2025 Predictions — Each year, I try to predict what will be relevant in the benefits industry. This year, however, I struggled to come up with anything that felt directly tied to the industry itself. But then I thought about our business, and more broadly, about the opportunities I see across various sectors.

WSA Reimbursement Freeze — With the WSA reimbursement freeze feature, employers can pick a cut-off date for WSA claims. During the freeze window if an employee submits a WSA claim, they will be notified that it will not be reimbursed to them until 2025 and be recorded as a taxable benefit in 2025. Employees can continue to submit claims as they normally do while also allowing payroll teams to have a necessary blackout period to record the taxable benefit correctly.
New for Plan Administrators — Plan Administrators can now activate the WSA Freeze Feature directly from their login. Navigate to the “Plans” tab, select the plan to update, and set a start date to enable the feature. It’s an easy way to give them control over WSA reimbursements during tax season!
