2025 Predictions
Each year, I try to predict what will be relevant in the benefits industry. This year, however, I struggled to come up with anything that felt directly tied to the industry itself. But then I thought about our business, and more broadly, about the opportunities I see across various sectors.

WSA Reimbursement Freeze
With the WSA reimbursement freeze feature, employers can pick a cut-off date for WSA claims. During the freeze window if an employee submits a WSA claim, they will be notified that it will not be reimbursed to them until 2025 and be recorded as a taxable benefit in 2025. Employees can continue to submit claims as they normally do while also allowing payroll teams to have a necessary blackout period to record the taxable benefit correctly.
New for Plan Administrators
Plan Administrators can now activate the WSA Freeze Feature directly from their login. Navigate to the “Plans” tab, select the plan to update, and set a start date to enable the feature. It’s an easy way to give them control over WSA reimbursements during tax season!
